The Racemark Challenge at Amelia Island

Overview

Racemark International, the leading OEM and aftermarket manufacturer of luxury floormats and seat covers for fine automobiles, and Cannonball Enterprises have teamed up to host the 2001 Racemark Challenge at Amelia Island, Florida, a two day motorsports event designed for street legal cars.

The dates for this event are March 7th and 8th, and will compete at the new road course and drag strip at Gainesville Raceway, and at historic Roebling Road. The premise of the competition will be much like the Michelin One Lap of America, but without the brutal and often sleepless night driving, gas station road food, and days without showers. Each day will begin at the host hotel, the new Amelia Island Plantation, and involve driving to the tracks where a practice will be held in the early morning, followed by three time trials for points.

Rules for this event are simple, just as One Lap, run-what-you-brung. The Racemark Challenge is open to any registered, licensed and insured automobile, regardless of modifications, on DOT legal tires. We will have various class trophies, an overall winner’s trophy and awards to highlight the spirit of the event.

It is probable that the winning car, and perhaps others, will be presented to the field at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, March 10th.
